The bus will pick-up folks from two departure points in southeast Texas – Silsbee and Liberty. Following lunch we will make a stop in Burton, TX where we will take a step back in time to when cotton was king. The historic 1914 Burton Farmers Gin is nestled in the heart of Burton, located on the same site where it was built over 100 years ago. This historic Cotton Gin has been visited annually by thousands of visitors who have enjoyed the exhibits at the Texas Cotton Gin Museum. After our visit we continue our journey into Waco where we will check-in to our hotel for 3 nights – Fairfield Inn and Suites.

Wednesday, September 22

It’s an HGTV kind of morning as our local guide leads us on a city tour and a Fixer-Upper adventure. Our morning includes visiting iconic Waco sites like the Historic Suspension Bridge. We visit many sights related to the “Fixer Upper” show including Harp Design, JDH Iron Design to see Jimmy Don’s shop, Magnolia House, and many other features from the show. Enjoy lunch on your own and shopping at Magnolia Market at the silos. Eat at one of the many food trucks at the silos. After our time at Magnolia Market we will visit the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum located on the banks of the Brazos River. You will be able to learn about the mission, history, staff and governance of America’s first law enforcement historical center founded in 1964.

Thursday, September 23

Today our journey begins at the Waco Mammoth National Monument. This National Monument became a part of the National Park System in 2015 when President Obama signed an executive order establishing Waco Mammoth National Monument. Fossils of 24 Columbian mammoths and other mammals from the Pleistocene Epoch have been uncovered. We will tour the dig site where you will be able to see these fossils. Following lunch a tour guide joins us on our visit to Homestead Craft Village. The Barn at the village is filled with hundreds of one-of-a kind handcrafted items: soaps, hand-turned wooden bowls, tables, rocking chairs, bed frames, hand-quilted quilts, children’s books, how-to books, and much more. This restored antique barn houses the work of the community’s craftsmen. Our tour will take us to several buildings in the village where you will see artisan’s demonstrations. After our tour we will enjoy a delicious and fresh home cooked dinner at the Homestead Café.

Friday, September 24
